Wyota Ethyl (Chilcote) Tennis, 89, passed away on May 21, 2023. Wyota was born on June 27, 1933 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to her parents Roy and Hazel (Tyrrell) Chilcote. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class on 1947. She married her young love Ronald G. Tennis on September 27, 1952 at First Christian Church in Oskaloosa. Wyota stayed local for a majority of her life. When her husband went into active duty, she traveled with him.
Wyota had her creative pathways and enjoyed crocheting, making quilts and sewing. She loved card games, especially solitaire. She is best known for her caring-nature, was quiet but stubborn at times, and laid back. Her grandson Lucas remembered going to her place in the summer and enjoyed the time he got to spend with her.
Left to cherish Wyota’s memory are her grandson Lucas (Elyse) Tennis and their daughter Jordyn, son Grayson, and son Blayke; her sister Irene; daughter-in-law Becky Shank; and many beloved family members. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister Pauline; and her sons Rickie, Jerry, and Randy.
