Wolo Davis

Updated: Dec 3, 2024

March 10, 1987 – November 8, 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Wolo Davis, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who left us on November 8, 2024, at Unity Point Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. Wolo was born on March 10, 1987, in Monrovia, Liberia.  Wolo and his family then moved to Ivory Coast in the 90’s.  From there, they moved to the United States in 2005, settling in Massachusetts, where he lived for seven years before finding his home in Des Moines, Iowa, where he spent the remainder of his life.

Wolo and his wife Korpo had a long love story that sadly ended in 2024.  Wolo and Korpo met as teenagers and had their first child in 2012 while in high school.  They both grew up into adults and later had the rest of their kids.

Wolo was known for his friendly, approachable nature, always willing to give piggyback rides to children and take them fishing, sharing his joy of the outdoors with the younger generation. Wolo's hands were never still – whether tending to the yard, fixing things around the house, or lending a hand wherever it was needed.

Wolo was also a committed member of Faith Covenant International Church, where he served as an usher and greeted everyone with his warm smile, making all who entered feel welcome.

Wolo’s legacy lives on through his wife, Korpo Williams, and their four children: Eli, Christian, Natalie, and Ethan. He is also survived by his siblings: Josephine Davis, Edward Davis, Patience Davis, Chancy Davis, Luportue Davis, Tony Davis, and Philip Davis, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss him dearly.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all those who supported them through this difficult time, and for the cherished memories of Wolo’s life. Your love and prayers have been a source of great comfort. God bless.

Visitation will be Friday, December 6, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., at Merle Hay Funeral home, 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, IA 50310, Funeral services to honor Wolo’s life will be held at Faith Covenant International Church 6000 Douglas Ave., DSM 50322 on December 7th at 10 AM with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery 4400 Merle Hay Road, DSM, IA.
