Thomas Galvan

In loving memory of Thomas Angelo Galvan, Tom went home to be with Jesus on October 30, 2020.

Thomas Angelo Galvan (Tom) was born to Tomas and Alvena (Jackson) Galvan on March 7, 1948 in Des Moines, IA.

Tom attended North High School in Des Moines and served in the Viet Nam War. Upon returning from Viet Nam, Tom loved to visit with his family and work on cars and TV’S as a hobby. Tom was a construction worker for Hallett Construction in Boone, IA, a supervisor at BMS, a trucker driver for DAV, and a maintenance technician at Grandview College before he moved to the Iowa Veterans Home. He has resided at the Iowa Veterans Home since 2009.

Tom gave his life to Jesus in 1983 and lived a life faithful to the Bible’s teachings; he was a member of the Cavalry Apostolic Church.

Those to cherish his memory are his three sisters; Peggi Spors and Conni Walker of Ankeny, IA, and Lucy Blair of Des Moines, IA. Nephews; Ed Beckler of Des Moines, IA and Gary Smith and James Walker of Ankeny, IA, his niece Kathi Hill of West Des Moines, IA, and his former brother-in-law Heinz Spors of Des Moines, IA. Other survivors include brothers; Joseph Littlebear (Irvin) of Boone, IA, Stacy Galvan and Ciso Galvan of Perry, IA, and many nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, niece Melanie Beckler, a brother Opal (Sonny) Holiday, and nephew Darin Linger.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 until 1:00 on Wednesday, November, 4, 2020 at Merle Hay Funeral Home 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, Iowa 50310. Services will follow the visitation at 1:00 p.m. also at the Merle Hay Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the American Liver Foundation or call 1-800-465-4837 for more information. Due to the Covid-19 everyone must wear a mask and social distancing.
