Sequoiyah Bueford, Jr., 76, known as Butch to family and friends passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at the VA Medical Center in Des Moines. Butch was born on May 17, 1944 in Des Moines to Sequoiyah & Pauline (White) Bueford. He served his as an MP with the US Air Force early in the 1960’s and then began his career as a over the road truck driver. He drove truck for over 30 years, and was able to see much of our country. He had many colorful stories from his years driving truck. He will also be remembered for loving to take a long walk alone and his great love for his dogs.
Butch is survived by two sons, Christopher, Sequoiyah III “Skippy”, and five siblings, Audrey Bruce, LaNita (Jonathan) Marshall, Willie (Marisa) Bueford, Terri (Stanley) Mitchell and Gayla (Walter) Stuart.
A celebration of life gathering will be held at the Merle Hay Funeral Home Chapel, 4400 Merle Hay Rd Des Moines, on Wednesday, April 28th from 4 to 6 pm. His ashes will be interred at the Iowa Veteran Cemetery with Military Honors.
