Robert (Bob) Snyder

Robert (Bob) Snyder was born November 17, 1948, in Muscatine, Iowa, and went home to be with the Lord on September 18, 2026.

Bob was born to Samuel C. and Minnie B. Snyder and lived in Muscatine for half of his life.

He moved to Des Moines in 1990, where he met his loving wife, Cindy. He worked as a shipping and receiving supervisor until his retirement at the age of 65.

Bob loved watching the Iowa Hawkeyes play, especially basketball, and was an avid Chicago Bears fan. When he was not watching sports, he enjoyed woodworking, crafting special items for his wife and grandchildren, and remodeling parts of his home. After retiring, he collected and harvested black walnuts to sell for holiday baking. He also loved hosting BBQs and bonfires and, most of all, spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy; his children, Sam (Karen) Snyder, Shelly (Dave) Maeglin, April (Dan) Kline, Randy Mittlestadt, Shannon Penman, and Misty (Victor) Paniagua; his grandchildren, Desiree, Miranda, Dana, Amber, Josh, Ashley, Bryan, Hollie, Brayden, Gage, Trace, Sheyanne, Meadow, Katherine, Jasmine, Jacob, Madison, Tristin, and Grace; his great-granddaughters, Addylyne, Jacquelyne, Brielle, and Marceline; his sisters, Sharon Hunt, Mary Bragg, and Kathy Snyder; his brothers, Gary and Walt (Rita) Snyder; and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his father, Samuel C. Snyder; his mother, Minnie B. Snyder; his brothers, Dick, Donald, Melvin, Larry, and John Snyder; and his sisters, Marianne Farrar, Gayle Snyder, and Janet Mairet.

Family and friends are warmly invited to gather in remembrance of Bob on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Merle Hay Funeral Home Chapel, 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. lead by Pastor John Virden. Following the service, Bob will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery.
