Peter A. Ortega, 66 of Des Moines IA, was born in Davenport, Iowa on September 11, 1956 to Peter and Margaret Ortega. After 66 years of love and memories, he passed away on May 6th, 2023 of heart failure surrounded by family and loved ones.
Peter graduated from Rio Linda High School where he was in the high school band. His love for music continued on throughout his life and he spent much of his time playing music and he even sang in his church choir. He was a devoted servant of the Lord and he was a very proud Catholic, even serving at a young age as an alter boy in his church. When he wasn’t singing or playing music you could find Peter under the hood of a car fixing it up or out fishing with his brothers or kids.
Peter had 3 amazing children and was a proud father of Peter, Rhia and Christopher. As well as a proud brother, uncle, and friend to many!
Peter was preceded in death by his father Peter, his mother Margaret, his brothers; John, Tino, Felix, Val, Demetirus and Santos, his granddaughter Mia, his grandsons Zamir and Zamari, his great grand baby girl, and his Beloved Irene.
Peter is survived by his children Peter, Rhia and Christopher; brothers Manuel and Mario Ortega; and his grandchildren Dre, Byron Jr, Olivia, Jaden, Xzavia, Zayonna, Latasia, and Aria.
Peter was a happy man who you could always get a laugh with. He was full of life, love, and light that he enjoyed sharing with everyone! He always had a story to tell and a joke or rap to share! The memories of Peter will live on forever in our hearts as something we can treasure. He is now free, healed, and at peace in heaven with his Mother, Father, Grandkids and his late love, Irene.
On Friday, March 26th there will be a funeral at 11:00am with a time of visitation beforehand at 10:00am at Merle Hay Chapel.
