Penny Hanson, 62, of Altoona, Iowa passed away on July 13, 2020 at home.
Funeral services will be at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2020, at Merle Hay Funeral Home, 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, Iowa, 50310. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until service time at 5:30 p.m. also at Merle Hay Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Burial will be at a later date at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Penny Dawn Cosner was born on February 2, 1958 in Des Moines, Iowa: she was the daughter of Lloyd and Gloria (Lehman) Cosner. She attended the Des Moines Public Schools, graduating from Lincoln High School with the class of 1976. Penny married Keith Hanson and they were blessed with two sons, Cory and Justin, they later divorced. She worked for Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield Insurance for the last 5 years. She was very artistic, enjoyed movies, and paranormal investigation. She loved her friends, enjoyed many, and her cat Poppy. Her priority was time with her boys and family.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Cory Hanson and Justin (Peyton) Hanson, both of Des Moines, Iowa. Her brother, Gregg Cosner of Altoona. And also Poppy, her cat.
In death Penny rejoins her parents, Lloyd and Gloria Cosner.
