Marcia June Laird Foreman

Marcia June Laird Foreman, 82, passed away surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind cherished memories, beloved traditions, and a lasting legacy of love.

She was born Marcia June Laird on June 11, 1944, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Norvell James Laird and Olga Martha Petersen. She grew up alongside her brother, Nolan James Laird. From an early age, Marcia was spirited, caring, and independent. During her school years, she participated in Concert Chorus and the Roosevelt  Riderettes. She also volunteered in her school nurse’s office and later pursued nursing studies.

In 1982, Marcia became a member of the American Association for Medical Transcription and began her career as a medical transcriptionist. She started her own medical transcription service which she was able to work from home. She later went to the Davis Brown Law Firm for many years until retiring. Throughout her professional life, she was hardworking, capable, and determined—qualities that served her well in every endeavor.

Family was at the center of Marcia’s life. She was the mother of Douglas Dean Foreman and Charles Laird Foreman. In 1996, Marcia met Peter Belstein, with whom she shared many loving years.

Marcia cherished bringing her family together, especially during the holidays. Her home was a place where family could count on a warm meal, familiar stories, and the comfort of being together. She also had a wonderful sense of humor and a feisty spirit. Honest, independent, and never afraid to speak her mind, Marcia brought laughter and personality to every gathering. Her family will remember her strong character and the unmistakable way she made everyone feel at home.

Marcia is survived by her son, Charles Laird Foreman (Tracy); grandchildren Kylie (Jacob) Schueler, Hunter Foreman, Parker Foreman, and Jordan Foreman (Dakota); and great-grandchildren Stella, Eleanor, and Colter.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, Norvell and Olga Laird; her brother, Nolan James Laird; her son, Douglas Dean Foreman; and her beloved partner, Peter Belstein.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 31, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Merle Hay Funeral Home, 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 1, at 10:00 a.m., also at Merle Hay Funeral Home. Following the service, family and friends will accompany our loved one to Chapel Hill Cemetery, where she will be lovingly laid to rest.
