Mabel Mott

Mabel “Mabeleze” Mott 90, of Des Moines, Iowa passed away on January 1, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. On her 90th birthday she gained her wings!!!

Mabel Webb was born on January 1, 1931, in Sugar Tree, Missouri, daughter of Oscar Lee and Mintha Anna (Harrington) Webb.

On August 8, 1958, in Missouri, Mabel was united in marriage to Ralph L. Mott. They lived in Des Moines until 1983 where Mabel worked as a Nurses Aid at Mercy Medical Center and later worked for In Home Care. Upon retirement they moved to Missouri where she owned a restaurant with lots of homemade food. Ralph and Mabel were proud members of the local volunteer fire department. In 1999 they returned to Des Moines. She was a member of Wakonda Christian Church and VFW #9662 Ladies Auxiliary. Mabel was an amazing cook! She loved to share her food wherever she was living, enjoyed bowling, camping, fishing with her grandchildren, crocheting, sewing and quilting. Mabel loved family get togethers for birthdays, holidays and especially the Webb Fish Fry in the fall. A great time was had by all.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Anita (Roger) Schlenker, Jacqueline (David) German, and Robert (Jodine) Knowlton. Grandchildren, Laura (Randy) Lane, David (Jennifer) Plumb, Rhonda (Kenny) Lyons, Dena Martin (fiancé Justin), Victoria Kellogg (fiancé Roger) and Anthony (Dori) Knowlton. Step-Grandchildren; Kim (Mitch) Ealy, Michael (Diane) Waterman, Rhonda (Tim) White, Chris (Crystal) Huffman, Jeff Huffman, Great-grandchildren, Megan, Kelsey, Allison, Jillian, Colton, Alyssa, Ronnie, Daniel, Prince Juhne, Nicole, Shawna, Anthony and 15 great-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Tuddy England and many nieces and nephews.

In death Mabel rejoins her husband Ralph Mott, siblings Hadley, Lee, Morgan, Maurice, Alfred, Gaylon, Letha, Effie, Raymond, Nathan, George, great-granddaughter Kelsey Lane, son-in-law Dale Waterman and stepson Eddie Mott.

The family will be having a Private funeral service and burial. Memorials may be directed in Mabel’s name to Wakonda Christian Church Pre-School, 3938 Fleur Drive, Des Moines, Iowa 50321.
