Lola McKnight

Lola McKnight 80, of Norwalk, Iowa passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022, at Ramsey Village in Des Moines, Iowa.


A Memorial gathering will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Merle Hay Funeral Home, 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, Iowa. There will be no formal service. Memorials may be directed to the Animal Rescue League or the Alzheimer's Association.

Lola Jean Jackman was born in Des Moines, Iowa on September 5, 1941; she was the daughter of Lyle Jackman and Dorothy (Wells) Jackman. Lola attended school in Des Moines and graduated from Lincoln High School. On November 14, 1992, Lola was united in marriage to Jerald Earl McKnight at the Scotch Ridge Church in rural Warren County Iowa. The couple made their home in rural Norwalk. Lola had worked at Norwest Bank as payroll manager at the time of her retirement after 20 years of faithful service. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and baking and was incredibly good at both, she loved to sing, exercise and was always a creative person. Lola was a truly kind, caring person, always smiling and enjoying a good laugh.

Left to cherish Lola’s memory are her husband of 30 years, Jerry, children, Deanna (Robert) Bridges, Cindy (Steve) Tonasket and Gary Friedmeyer, stepdaughter, Julie (Paul) Holmes, grandchildren, Madeline Rose Bridges, Amanda Holmes, Natalie Holmes, siblings, Mary Jane (Richard) Haire, and Phillip (Francine) Jackman, sisters-in-law, Stephanie Jackman, and Janet Jackman many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In death, Lola rejoins her parents Lyle and Dorothy Jackman, siblings, Dale, Edwin, Fay, Gerald, and Charles Jackman.
