A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 18th, 2026, at Merle Hay Funeral Home and Chapel Hill Cemetery (4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, IA 50310) from 10AM to 12PM. Following the Celebration, Lisa will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Cemetery, all are welcome to attend.
Lisa was born on November 7, 1957, in Charles City, Iowa. She attended Urbandale High School and was known for her love of family, cooking delicious food, and spending time with those she cared about.
In June 1975, Lisa met the love of her life, Dennis, while working at Country Kitchen. Family members often enjoyed hearing the story of how she got Dennis's attention by throwing a cup of water on him. The two were married on August 14, 1976, and shared nearly 50 years together.
Lisa and Dennis raised three children, Faith, Stephanie and Jeffrey. Lisa worked as a Quality Assurance Coordinator after staying home to raise her family. Being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was her greatest joy.
Lisa loved cooking, especially family favorites like BLTs and lasagna. She enjoyed traveling to places such as San Francisco and Hawaii and took several cruises over the years. In retirement, she enjoyed watching shows like Judge Judy and The Young and The Restless as well as spending time at Prairie Meadows, playing her favorite penny slot machines.
More than anything, Lisa loved being with her family. She enjoyed taking her grandchildren to the park, swimming, sleepovers, movie nights, malts, and board games. She treasured every moment spent with them.
Lisa is survived by her husband, Dennis; her children, Faith, Stephanie (Devon), and Jeffrey (Leslie); six grandchildren, Gage, Aurora, Nathan, MaKenzy, Chase and Justin; and two great-grandchildren, Camara and Levy.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Laurie Hundemiller.
The family would like to thank UnityPoint Hospice Care for the kindness and care they provided to Lisa and her family.
