Linda Lou Hasso (nee Hampton) was born on May 20, 1946, in Iowa City, Iowa. She passed peacefully on October 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Linda grew up in the Des Moines area and attended North High School. She married Donald Hasso in 1963, and they raised three boys during their 61 years together. Linda worked for the Des Moines School District, first as a nutrition worker, and then as a school bus driver. She dearly loved being around the children and getting them safely to and from school each day. She was also passionate about dogs, cats, and all of God’s other creatures and was a longtime supporter of animal rescue organizations.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Donald Hasso; children Donald Jr. (Jacki) Hasso, of Warrensburg, Missouri; Michael (Melissa) Hasso of Des Moines, Iowa; and Mitchell (Nicole) Hasso of Johnston, Iowa, and her dog Lacey. Linda also leaves behind six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mergie and Orville Hampton, and three brothers.
A celebration of Linda’s life will take place at the Merle Hay Chapel, 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, Iowa, on Friday, October 18. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 and a luncheon at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in Linda’s honor to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
