Lennart Boettcher

Lennart Boettcher, born November 12, 1937, in Storm Lake, Iowa, passed away on December 10, 2025, in Des Moines, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Storm Lake and grew up on the Boettcher family farm, where he learned the values of hard work, humility, and service to others.

On June 14, 1959, Lennart was united in marriage to Wanda (Cundiff) at Zion Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. The couple began their life together in Storm Lake before moving to Bagley and later to Perry. In 1987, they settled in Des Moines, where they continued to build a life centered on faith, family, and dedication to their community.

Lennart was a devoted servant to many, always willing to lend a hand. He was well known for his quiet generosity and for helping others in countless ways throughout his life.

He is survived by his sons, Nolan (Diane) of The Villages, Florida, and David of Grimes, Iowa; his grandchildren, Tanya and Nick (Savannah); his great-granddaughter, Sophia; special great-grandsons, William and Hayden; his sister, Delores (Larry) Jobe; and his brother, Daniel (Patty) Boettcher.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda, in 2011.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Merle Hay Funeral Home Chapel, 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m.

Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Storm Lake Cemetery, Lakeshore Dr., Storm Lake, Iowa.
