Laura Jean Williams, 72, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023 after a courageous 4 year battle with cancer.
Laura was born on November 28, 1950 in Des Moines, Iowa to Homer and Lela Munyon. She spent most of her life in Des Moines; she also lived in Colorado and California. Laura spent her career as a nurse’s aide at several different facilities in the Des Moines area. Laura enjoyed the outdoors very much and loved being the Rocky Mountains.
Left to cherish her memory are her partner Tim Boatwright of Des Moines; her four sons, Terry Karnowski of Pleasant Hill, Scott Karnowski (Elda) of Altoona, Mike Williams of Des Moines, and Joe Williams (Mayela Castro) of Des Moines; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. As well as her sisters; Gladys Wilson of Des Moines and Helen Lawson of Des Moines. Along with many cousins, nieces and nephews, and beloved friends.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Lela; her brothers, Tom, Don and Homer Jr.; and sisters, Ruby and Eleanor.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mission Cancer Center and the staff at EveryStep Kavanagh House Hospice for the loving care that was shown.
Laura will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Gardens at Merle Hay Funeral Home in Des Moines.
