Kenneth “Kepy” Kephart, 74 of Des Moines and Mercer, Missouri, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021, at Good Samaritan in Indianola, Iowa.
Kenneth Karl Kephart was born in Baxter, Iowa, on July 5, 1946: he was the son of Forest and Susanna (Daniel) Kephart. He attended school in Newton, Iowa, and then got a degree for Locksmithing. On January 1, 1965, Kenneth was united in marriage to Linda Morris at Kenneth's parents’ home in Newton. They had lived in Des Moines and at Twin Lake in Missouri. Living in Newton, Marshalltown, and Denver, CO, in the early part of their marriage.
He worked as a locksmith, first for Straus Lock and then opened his own locksmith company B-K Lock. He enjoyed drag racing, working on old hit and miss engines, and he and Linda volunteered at the Iowa State Fair for several years, a time they loved. He could fix almost anything mechanical especially autos and mowers. He was cantankerous at times but had a heart of gold, was always good for a laugh and joke, and considered family and friends the best part of life.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Linda, and son, Brian Kephart, siblings, Sharon (Marvin) VanSickle of Newton and Eldon (Janet) Kephart of Brooklyn, a sister-in-law Marcia Williams and lots of nieces and nephews.
In death Kenneth rejoins his parents Forest and Susanna Kephart, siblings, Vernon, Marilyn and Carolyn, a niece and two nephews.
