Born April 9th, 1943 in Arkansas, Died March 30th, 2021.
John is preceded in death by his parents, William and Jessi Jones; sister, Betty Groves; wife, Mary Jones; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.
John is survived by sister Mary Sue Howe; four daughters: Lilly Jones and husband David Jones of Keokuk, Sandy Brewer and husband Ron Brewer of Des Moines, Stephanie Knapik of Des Moines, and Karen Gates of Ottumwa; seven grandsons; two granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; and lots of nieces, nephews and cousins.
John lived in Keokuk, where he met the love of his life. Years later, John and Mary married on October 13th, 2004. He worked 37 years as a sawmill operator, before retiring to move to Des Moines with his family. John looked forward and was a lifelong fan of racing, and spending time with all of his grandchildren. He loved and cherished every moment with his family. He will be loved and missed by many.
John's family will celebrate his life with a service on Monday, April 5, 2021 at Merle Hay Funeral Home.
