Jody Rae Coenen, 54, of Urbandale, Iowa passed away on July 8, 2020 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics with her loving family by her side.
Jody was born in Des Moines, Iowa on June 17, 1966 in Des Moines, Iowa. She was the daughter of Chris and Cindy (Steinmetz) Conner. She attended and graduated from Woodward-Granger Community School District with the class of 1984. Jody went on to receive her degree in Fashion Merchandising and Dental Assisting from Des Moines Area Community College. On September 15, 1990 Jody was united in marriage to Shayne Coenen at St Patrick’s Catholic Church in Perry, Iowa. The two continued to live in Perry, IA for 7 years and then moved to Urbandale, IA to raise their family. She worked as a dental assistant early in her career and then opened her in home daycare, a job she enjoyed dearly. Jody loved camping, especially at the Iowa State fair, music, Jimmy Buffett, being outside, the Green Bay Packers, and the Iowa Hawkeyes, but her best times were when she could be with her family.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 29 years, Shayne; children, Chayce Coenen of Urbandale, Mickie Coenen of Waukee; granddaughter, Delanie Coenen; parents, Cindy (Al) Lindahl of Perry, Chris (Carol) Conner of Lorimor; siblings, Holly (Hunter) Bellon of Ames, Tami (Rick) Tabor of Thief River Falls, Minnesota and step-brother, Robert Lindahl of Jefferson.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at New Hope Assembly of God Church at 4425 70th Street, Urbandale, Iowa, 50322. Memorials may be directed to the family and will be designated at a later date. The family ask you wear casual Jimmy Buffett attire to celebrate Jody’s Life.
