Jessica Henderson

Jessica Henderson, age 40, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on Saturday May 9th surrounded by her family and her best friend, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and deep connection that will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her.

Jessica was a beautiful soul with the biggest heart. She had a rare gift for making people feel seen, loved, and important. Whether someone was family, a lifelong friend, or a complete stranger, Jessica showed up for people without hesitation. The lives she touched were forever changed by her compassion, generosity, and light.

She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, devoted dog mom to her sweet boy, Trigg, who brought her endless happiness and companionship and stepmom. Jessica deeply cherished her family and friends and never missed an opportunity to celebrate the people she loved. She especially loved birthdays and her nieces and nephews’ events.

Jessica found joy in life’s simple and beautiful moments. She loved rock hunting and collecting crystals, spending time among wildflowers, caring for her many houseplants, and searching for her fun and fabulous clothes, purses, shoes, and sunglasses while shopping and thrifting. Jessica was very creative and was always writing and doodling. Jessica had a beautiful mind and was always creating something new. She had a creative spirit and a deep appreciation meaningful connection.

She was also a talented author who proudly published four books on Amazon, sharing her creativity and heart with the world through her writing.

Above all, Jessica will be remembered for the love she gave so freely. Her laughter, warmth, and unforgettable presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Jessica is lovingly remembered by her mother, Tena (John); her father, Rick; her siblings, Ricki, Stephanie (Patrick), and Ky; her cherished nieces and nephews; and many dear family members and friends.

A Celebration of Jessica’s Life will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, with family and friends gathering from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. A funeral service honoring Jessica’s life will follow at 2:00 p.m., all at Merle Hay Funeral Home Chapel, 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, Iowa.

Flowers may be sent to Merle Hay Funeral Home and will be warmly received by the family as an expression of sympathy and remembrance.
