Jacquelyn (Jackee) M. Brienzo, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28th, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, IA. Jacquelyn M. Brienzo was born to Oliver and Amelia Ruhlow on October 30th, 1932 in Sioux City, IA. She attended and graduated East High School with the class of 1950. She met the love of her life there, William (Bill) Brienzo, and they had one dearly loved son, Gregory Brienzo. Relocating to Urbandale, IA in 1969, they found their permanent home and made a great life where Jackee was a devoted homemaker.
Some highlights of Jackee’s life were family vacations, attending her son’s sporting events, baking, entertaining friends, bowling and ceramics. She was a devout member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church where she spent time socializing and volunteering for events. Jackee also enjoyed shopping, spending time at the casino on the slot machines, and entertaining her wonderful neighbors on the front porch.
Jackee was an extremely loving and caring Grandmother to granddaughters Angela Wheeler (Brienzo) and Allison Hayes (Brienzo). They were the joy and pride of her life and she loved spending time with them whenever possible. In 2014, Jackee became a great grandmother to Ruby Hayes whom she spoiled often. Jackee was loved by all those she met and was known to so many as “Mrs. B “or “GB”.
Jacquelyn is survived by her granddaughters Angela (Dave) Wheeler of Charlotte, NC, Allison (Andy) Hayes of Des Moines,IA , their mother, Kim Walker (Brienzo) of Grimes, IA and great granddaughter Ruby Hayes (Andy and Allison). She was preceded in death by her son, Greg Brienzo, husband, Bill Brienzo, sister, Diane Winn, brother in law, Jack Winn, nephew, Brian Winn and her parents.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday September 8th, at 5-6:30 pm with a memorial service immediately following at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 8301 NW Aurora Ave. Urbandale , IA 50322. (Masks and social distancing will be required.) Memorial contributions can be made to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church or Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
