Frederick F. Hunter

Updated: Jul 14, 2023

Fred Hunter now has the bragging rights to claim “I hope to die golfing” Goal achieved, Fred. On July 11, 2023, our father passed away on the golf course. As a parent, unbeknownst to him, he was giving his last instructions as to how to play one’s best game in golf…in life…in faith….and in love.

We witnessed a peace settle with dad as he took his last breaths, no angst or fear. Final putt made, Dad.

Born to parents Frederick E. Hunter and Kathleen B. Hunter (Snyder) on December 19, 1931, in London, Ontario, Canada. Fred married the love of his life, a beautiful, freckled face woman, also from London, Beverly Frances Thomson. Together they began a life in the United States raising nine children in Iowa. In the heart of Beaverdale, they became active members of the Holy Trinity Catholic community.

The ultimate salesperson, Fred’s personal touch with people and his ability to talk a broom into owning a dustpan allowed him to successfully operate his own company, Hunter Distributing. Over many years he enjoyed traveling the Midwest, meeting numerous clients who became lifelong friends.

Fred and Beverly leave behind their grateful children. Paula Vessell (Michael), Virginia Ohrberg (Scott), Theresa Liberio, Stephen Hunter (Cate), Frederick Hunter (Susan), John Michael Hunter (Jean), Peter Hunter, Alyssa Englund (Jim) , and David Hunter (Jody).

Beverly passed away in 2012, going ahead of Fred to “ready the way” for us all.

In 2014 dad continued his journey, marrying Rosemarie Severino Schneider. Together they enjoyed nine years with family and friends, traveling to warm destinations and enjoying life in retirement. With Ro, Fred also shared many great moments with her children, Chuck Schneider (Beth), Andrea Eisner (Todd), Stephanie Becerra (Tom) and Monica Voss (Steve).
