Doris Holloway 93, of Des Moines, Iowa passed away peacefully on August 14, 2020 in her home where she wanted to be.
Doris Irene Fluharty was born on January 26, 1927 in Shinnston Harrison, West Virginia; she was the daughter of Nicholas Fluharty and Bessie (Owens) Fluharty, she attended school in the area of her birth. On august 17, 1946 she was united in marriage to Sherman Marion Holloway in Harrison West, Virginia. They soon moved to Des Moines and made it their forever home.
Doris lead by example, she was a kind, loving, soul and is remembered for openly welcoming all into her home, she was an avid reader, loved romance and mystery novels alike.
Grandmothers are a special treat for children to have and spending time with a grandmother like Doris is a privilege, some will never know. We are grateful for our time together and thankful for the guiding hand she had in our lives.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Danny (Connie) Holloway, Sheryl Holloway, and Kevin Holloway., grandchildren, Kelly McPhillips, Shanda Bullard, Ryan Holloway, Jessica (Carlos) Galvez, Samantha Holloway, Sarah Polson, Larry Ethan (Jewel) Polson and many great-great-greatgrandchildren whom she loved dearly.
In death Doris rejoins her parents, Nicholas and Bessie Fluharty, husband, Sherman Holloway, brothers, Harold, Floyd and Robert Fluharty and niece, Karen Logsdon
Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Merle Hay Funeral Home, 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, Iowa 50310. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Cemetery also at 4400 Merle Hay Road.
