Donna Burr Sease

Donna Burr Sease, 71, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on August 20, 2026, at UnityPoint Health – Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Donna was born on December 29, 1954, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Richard and Betty (Taylor) Burr. Throughout her life, Donna was known for her love of family, her caring nature, and the joy she found in simply spending time with those she loved.

Donna worked for Wells Fargo for 20 years and also briefly worked for the Des Moines Register. Her favorite work, however, was with children. She worked in the before- and after-school daycare program at Western Hills Elementary and also served as a first-grade assistant at Hillside Elementary. She truly enjoyed being around the children and being a part of their lives.

Sports were always a big part of Donna’s life. She played and coached softball, coached soccer, and especially loved watching her sons, relatives, and other family members participate in sports and school activities. She was also a devoted Iowa Hawkeyes fan and enjoyed cheering on both the men’s and women’s teams.

Donna loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing, boating, skiing, camping, and traveling with the camper. She had a special love for animals and treasured family gatherings. More than anything, spending time with both sides of her family was important to Donna. No matter what was going on, being together with the people she loved was where she wanted to be.

Donna is survived by her loving husband, Don Sease; her sons, Ron (Jacky) Sease and Randy Sease; brothers, John (Phyllis) Burr and Kenny (Ann) Burr; sister-in-law, Cindy Burr;  along with many beloved nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Burr and Betty Taylor Burr, and her brother, Rodger Burr.

A visitation will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 27, 2026, followed by the funeral service at 3:30 p.m., at Merle Hay Funeral Home Chapel, 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, Iowa.

Donna will be lovingly remembered for her devotion to family, her love of children and animals, her enthusiasm for sports and the outdoors, and the many wonderful memories she created with those she loved.
