Cheryldean Margaret Wion, age 71, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Cheryl was born on July 31, 1953, in Mount Ayr, Iowa, to Lloyd and Margaret Wion. She grew up in Des Moines and was a proud graduate of Lincoln High School.
Cheryl dedicated 37 years of her career to Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company, where she built strong relationships with her colleagues and developed a deep affection for the company.
Cheryl was an active and faithful member of Bethany Full Gospel Church, where she found community and purpose. She was a kind and generous spirit, always ready to lend a hand or offer encouragement to those around her.
Cheryl is survived by her three brothers, Dale, Daryl, and Jerry, all of Des Moines; her sister-in-law, Chris Wion; nieces, Angie Wion (Chad), Chelsea Gundersen (Sean), and nephew, Brandon Wion (Daniel); and her great-nieces and nephews, Bennett and Brynn Gundersen, and Charlie Wion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Wion, Margaret Wion, her brother, Charles Wion, and her niece, Abbey Wion.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Merle Hay Chapel, 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, IA 50310, on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Bethany Full Gospel Church in Cheryl's memory.
Cheryl’s legacy of love, faith, and kindness will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know her.
