Austin J. Nittler

Austin James Nittler, 35, passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2021 at his home in Des Moines. Austin was born in Des Moines on March 18, 1986 to Jack and Janet (Fairley) Nittler.


Austin will be forever remembered for his sense of humor and his uncanny ability to fix and build. He was skilled in auto mechanics, welding and fabricating. He had a huge heart and loved his sons dearly. If you ever spent time around him you also heard (and felt) his appreciation for loud music.


Austin is survived by his sons, Grayson & Easton, parents, Jack and Janet, sister, Maddison (Ramiro), brother, Brennan (Sierra), sister-in-law, Tarra, grandfather, Jack Fairley, grandmother, Glennis Nittler and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Nicholaus, grandfather, Jack Nittler, grandmother, Dorothy Fairley and aunt, Andrea Addington.


Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Friday, July 9th at the Merle Hay Funeral Home Chapel, 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, IA 50310 and a Celebration of Life will be held at 10 am on Saturday, also at the Merle Hay Chapel. Burial will be at the Sunset Memorial Garden Cemetery, 7601 Fleur Dr. in Des Moines.


There will be a luncheon after at the American Legion Hall, 3712 2nd Ave., Des Moines, IA 50313, all are welcome.

Memorial may be directed to the family for the Austin Nittler Memorial Trust for his sons.
