David Belluchi

David Belluchi 57, of Omaha, Nebraska went to our Lord peacefully on May 11, 2021 due to Covid 19 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha. David Scott Belluchi was born on Nov 18, 1963 in Des Moines, Iowa to Gerald and Nancy (Lund) Belluchi.


David played Little League Baseball at Highland Park Baseball. In high school he had a paper route for Des Moines Register with his some of his siblings. David attended Des Moines North High School, graduating with the class of 1982. He served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1983 until 1987 as Flight Operations Specialist. He was honored by receiving various awards including Army Meritorious Service Medal Good Conduct. He worked in Des Moines at Meredith Corp, ITS and DTN as Network Specialist/Engineer. He continued his IT career in Kansas City with Sprint, Embarq and Century Link. He expanded his career in Network Augmentation, Telecom and IPTV. At First Data in Omaha, he was as Network Tech working specifically on Telecom/Avaya.

On August 1, 1992 David was united in marriage to Paulette Weiland at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Beresford, South Dakota. They had lived in Des Moines, Kansas, South Dakota and most recently lived in Omaha.


He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Omaha. He converted in April 2016 on his new faith journey in the Catholic Church. David enjoyed camping, fishing, and bowling. He was a certified Bowling coach. Many years he coached his sons/nephews at Plaza Lanes and AMF in Des Moines. He took them to City and State tournaments. He was a baseball coach at Beaverdale Little League for various years coaching his son and nephews. David had received various bowling awards throughout his life. David was an avid sports person that loved the Iowa Hawkeyes, Green Bay Packers, and the Chicago Cubs. He went to various football games at Iowa and Green Bay. He loved going to Wrigley Field. David treasured going to concerts with his wife, children, family, and friends. David cherished the opportunity to travel to many states with his family throughout his life. David struggled with diabetes resulting with a Kidney Transplant in 2017.


Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 28 years, Paulette, children, Paul Weiland, Bridgette Belluchi and Gerald Belluchi, siblings, Robert (Kim) Belluchi, Steven Belluchi, Carol Todd, Brenda Aller, Jean Belluchi and Jane Belluchi, His Aunts: Linda (Jack) Allenduff, Linda Evans, Kathy Canfield, and Theresa Perry and his Uncle Raymond Hardy. Mother-in-Law Pauline Weiland. Brothers-in law: Donald Weiland (Rosemary), Jerry Weiland (Jen) Sisters-in-law: Mary Kay Pieper (Jim), Jolean Ulrich (Roger), Jane Pieper (Paul), Teresa Schumacher (Paul), Beth Esselstein (Mike), and Donna Stoltz (Brett). Many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, many cousins, and friends.


In death David rejoins his parents, Gerald and Nancy Belluchi and brother Douglas Belluchi, brother-in-law Jerry Todd, sister-in-law Sandy Belluchi, uncles Dennis and Ronald Lund, and aunt Kristen Sevenbergen. His Father-In-Law Donald Weiland, Nephews: Bracy Hammond and Nathan Pieper and Niece: Maria Esselstein.


Visitation will be Friday, May 14, 2021 at the Merle Hay Funeral Home, 4400 Merle Hay Rd, Des Moines, IA from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at St Theresa’s Catholic Church. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery following the service. Luncheon to follow after burial at Merle Hay Funeral Home.
